Add Touch Capacity or Protective Glass to any Display through Optical Bonding

Optical Bonding diagramOptical bonding is the process of attaching a touch screen and/or cover glass to an LCD panel, while at the same time filling the gap between them with an optically transparent material that eliminates internal reflections, thus improving durability, brightness and contrast.

Macnica offers bonding services using a choice of three automated processes:

  • OCR, or wet bonding, with optically clear resin
  • OCA, or dry bonding, with optically clear adhesive
  • Air Gap, using double-sided tape

OCR is the most durable of these methods, able to best withstand impact, shock and vibration. It offers the best readability, especially in sunlight, since it is best at eliminating internal reflections. It can be the most forgiving process, as we can add up to 2 mm of resin to overcome any issues with a raw display or its housing. OCR is available for displays from 1.33” to 100.0” diagonal.

OCA is a simpler, faster and more cost-effective process, still offering good durability and readability. OCR is available for displays from 1.33” to 65.0” diagonal.

Air Gap is the least expensive, best for indoor applications where impact and shock are less of an issue. It’s available for any size LCD display.

All of our optical bonding services are fulfilled in the United States, allowing you to avoid tariffs and achieve shorter turnaround time.
